Meet Our Staff
Mao Yang
Community Coordinator
I am a Daughter, sister, friend, auntie, author, disability rights, inclusion, awareness, disability and justice advocate. I am obsessed with all things pink and sparkly. in my spare time I like to eat spend time with my friends and play mobile games for money. My hope is to use my experience living with the developmental disability cerebral palsy as a resource to draw from and be a vessel for others with intellectual developmental disabilities and leave the world a more inclusive place for them that I found it.
I am involved with L’Arche because I have a gift for speaking and writing, and I am passionate about disability justice advocacy. I love to share my heart and vulnerability, and also make people cry in the positive but cathartic way with my words.
Aine R.
Community Manager
I'm originally from the desert, but moved to the Twin Cities three years ago and immediately fell in love with the warm, vibrant, generous disability community here. Becoming part of L'Arche seemed like a natural extension of my passion for cultivating deep, authentic community and relationships across a diverse array of lived experiences.
New to L'Arche, with a longstanding personal and professional commitment to disability justice and radical inclusion.

Meet Our Board
I grew up in a small town in southeastern Minnesota and learned about L’Arche in college. After graduating, I spent two years living in a L’Arche community, where I met my husband. We moved to the Twin Cities in 2012 and soon began connecting with others interested in growing L’Arche in the Twin Cities. We live in Saint Paul with our four children, and I work in higher education on training, consulting, and research projects to increase the inclusion of people with disabilities within their communities.

Upon coming home in 2014, I joined the group of people working to found L’Arche in Minnesota. I work as a chaplain in assisted living and memory care, and delight in recognizing and celebrating the beauty and gifts of others.

I’m from Seattle and began visiting the L’Arche Seattle community as a child. After college, I joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and later became part of L'Arche Portland. After meeting my wife, who is from St. Paul, on the West coast, we moved here in 2016. I'm a special education teacher at a transition program that focuses on life and career skills near St. Paul.
Kat Kohorst
I’m from northern MN, but was able to spend some life-altering years with L’Arche in Vancouver, BC. I am also a special education teacher, mostly working with kiddos who are deafblind and/or have autism. I am so excited to see this community grow and have an impact in the Twin Cities.
